Woodburning stoves are designed to operate best when the moisture content of the firewood is 20% or lower. Freshly cut timber has around 60% moisture content and may result in your stove not reaching optimum temperature and sooting up.
Kiln dried firewood burns cleanly at a high temperature and is more efficient – meaning you use less fuel.
